CS371p Fall 2020: Amit Samuel
What did you do this past week?
I started off this past week by going to a farmers market. I got a lot fresh fruit and a hand made stone pendant. This was also the first week I felt like I had really felt comfortable with all my classes. I could confidently do work, not worry if I was using the right sofware or accessing the correct zoom link.
What’s in your way?
The only things in my way were all the preliminary forms and quizzes we needed to fill out before starting each class. There are so many of them and it’s hard to keep track of sometimes. I’ve also become acclimated to the typical schedule in all my classes.
What will you do next week?
This week I will begin the OOP land hopefully learn something new. I was able to finish a lot of my other CS work this past week so I’m anticipating a little more free time to spend with my family.
What was your experience of assertions, Google Test, and gcov? (this question will vary, week to week)
I had minumimal experience with assertions in the past when using python. I’ve never had any experience with Google Test. I’ve had a decent amount of experience with gcov at one of my interships.
How are you doing and holding up? What’s been most helpful for you in terms of support at this time?
I’ve been holding up pretty well. I think I’ve been handleing being isolated better that most. Something that has been helpful for me is being able to spend time with my girfriend in Georgia since all of my classes are online.
What made you happy this week?
Nothing really needed to make me happy. I was happy the entire week. There wasn’t anything getting me down to begin with.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
My pick of the week is a video game my girlfriend and I have been playing our whole life. We started playing the very first 8-bit games on the NES and have never looked back. We are currently playing one of the newer games, and I am astounded at how much this particular game has advanced since the simple 2d version. It really puts in perspective the power of computing, and how much increasing the word soze of a processor can do for computing.
